Description: To assess the impact of the Act sanitary measures against smoking in Spain in the hospitality sector in the tobacco sector in the pharmaceutical and health of the population.
Methodology: The study design is a pre-post with control group. Analyzed the variables of interest before and after the intervention, the group in which there has been intervention, the Spanish population, and a control group. In addition, the study analyzed the trend of selected variables, monthly, quarterly or annually, as appropriate, in the period 2004-2007.
The variables analyzed are: turnover (turnover) sector landlord, employment rate in the hospitality sector, number of cigarettes sold; sales of cessation medications, and number of hospitalizations and hospitalization rates diseases directly related to tobacco.
The information sources used are: Annual Survey of Services, Labor Force Survey, Commission of the tobacco market, recording sales of drugs to the Department of Pharmacy, MDS-HA, and Census of Population.
